# AxMap.MaxExtents is only readoly

I am trying to set the MaxExtents using [vb.net](http://vb.net) however VS2015 claims it is a readonly property but according to the documentation it should be possible to set it. I am using version 5.0.1.0

Hello @miclyk

I think what you want is the [Extents property](https://www.mapwindow.org/documentation/mapwingis4.9/group __map__ extents.html#gab8458ba8ad5981a71b9cbb14a540721f) rather than MapExtents.
