# How do I build MapWindow?

I builded MapWinGIS successfully.

- source : [https://github.com/MapWindow/MapWinGIS.git](https://github.com/MapWindow/MapWinGIS.git)
- VS2017, debug, Win32

I ran regMapWinGIS.cmd at D:\dev\MapWinGIS\src\bin\Win32

I installed Essenetial studio.  
And when I build MapWindow5,

- source : [CodePlex Archive](https://archive.codeplex.com/?p=mapwindow5)
- VS2017, Debug, x86

I get the following errors:

How can I solve this problem?

You can start by downloading the source code of MW5 from the correct location:  
[MW5 @ GitHub](https://github.com/MapWindow/MapWindow5)

Do you have specific reasons to build the binaries yourself? We try to have up-to-date installers for both:  
[MapWinGIS releases](https://github.com/MapWindow/MapWinGIS/releases) and [MW5 releases](https://github.com/MapWindow/MapWindow5/releases)
