Release 4.9.4.2 x64 removed from github repository?

Hello,

Has v4.9.4.2 x64 been removed from github repository?
At the moment I see MapWinGIS v4.9.3.6 and then MapWinGIS v4.9.5.0.
It seems as if 4.9.4.2 has been deleted in between these two.

I perfectly understand that plenty of bugs have been fixed since that version, but I still use it for testing, as majority of functionalities that needed were working without any issues.

Sorry for getting back to you so late.
You are partially right. v4.9.4 wasn’t removed from GitHub it was never added.
At that time we used CodePlex as the repository.
All installers I had I’ve added later to the GitHub repository and it seems I don’t have the v4.9.4.2-x64 anymore.

If someone still has this, very old, installer I can add it.

But perhaps even more important is to make the latest stable version (v5.*) work for you, so you can upgrade.

What problems are you facing with the latest version of MapWinGIS?

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the clarification.
So on CodePlex, v4.9.4 also does not exist?

If I recall it correctly, with the release of v5.* something was changed with the way MapWinGIS.Utils.OGR2OGR converts .osm to .shp files. I doubted it may have been the “osmconf.ini” file, but I actually never identified if “osmconf.ini” from 4.9.4 and v5.* where the same, or something else was causing the problem.
I guess I would have to take some time and identify which exactly differences appear between these two when it comes to to .osm to .shp conversion.

In the end this is probably the issue with newer GDAL binaries maybe.

Hi George,

You’re right, it is most likely due to new GDAL binaries because MapWinGIS is just passing MapWinGIS.Utils.OGR2OGR to GDAL.
If you upgrade to the latest MapWinGIS you might want to look at GdalUtils.GdalVectorTranslate() it uses the more modern approach of GDAL.

Hi Wim,

Thank you very much! I was not aware of that method. I may try this.
