The confusion on the function "SetBounds"

Can anyone tell me what are the uses of the function “SetBounds”？ I was a little confused. Is there more detailed documentation on the “setbounds” for me?

SetBounds is a method of an Extents object, which can be used, for example, to set a predetermined zoom position on the map, or to query for the contents of a bounding box. There are examples in the documentation for SetBounds that might help.
