Hi there,
I use MapWinGIS in Microsoft Access with VB6. Display of Map and interacting works great, but after some zooming and panning the application (and Microsoft Access) always crash totally.
Does anyone know how to avoid this?

Hi, I got the same problem and it is due to a dll file responsible with internet communications (to search for tiles online like OSM) Libeay.dll. I tried all sorts including download OSM maps locally but could not resolve it. I also tried contacting people to solve it but no luck, so I am going to implement another solution using a web page on a form and a leaflet map. If you find a solution, please share :).
Hi Marc, thanks for your feedback. I already tried substitution of the mentioned libeay.dll with newer versions. I tried MapWingGIS 5.2.4 (which include a newer GDAL version than 5.3 (don’t know what’s the reason therfor). This GDAL uses newer OpenSSL libraries (libssl… instead of libeay)). But Access still crashes on zooming/panning sometimes ![]()
This bug is really annoying! Maybe I gonna switch to a WebView2/HTML solution, too.
I tried more recent versions of Libeay.dll too and that did not work. Nothing worked, really. I offered to pay for people to update but got no answer. it sounds like it wont be maintained anymore. It is a shame as it was a very good add-on. There is a commercial alternative but it is very expensive.
Seems that this project is dead
Since 2021 no updates. Still no GDAL3 support. No answers in the forum from any developers…
