I’m sorry for any lack of response.
I am not aware of any free imagery, although there may be some of lesser quality that may be available. I would recommend searching around the internet. And if you found something, you could probably set it up as a custom Tile Provider in MapWinGIS.
Regarding MapBox, I don’t personally know much about it, although it appears to be a Tile Provider in it’s own right, and not interoperable with MapWinGIS. Perhaps someone with more knowledge about this has more insights.
EDIT:
I take back what I just said. It may well be that MapBox provides URL’s that could be incorporated into MapWinGIS, whether vector tiles or raster tiles. It requires a little more research, and you would have to be satisfied with their pricing.
